Original version: 6 tblsp butter or margarine 1 tsp seasoned salt 4 tsp worcestershire sauce 2 cups each of corn, rice, wheat chex cereal 3/4 salted nuts My modified version and scaled to convenient cooking size: 24 tblsp (3 sticks) butter) 18 cups cereal (2 regular size boxes) 8 oz pretzels 16 oz peanuts (dry roasted) 6 tblsp worcestershire sauce 4 tsp seasoned salt Latest batch 2022-07-02: 4 sticks butter 2 large boxes cereal (~24'ish cups) 8-12oz bag pretzels 16oz peanuts dry roasted 8 tblsp worcestershire sauce (be sure to shake bottle) 4 tsp seasoned salt preheat oven to 250 F Melt butter, seasoned salt, and worcestershire sauce in sauce pan, bring to a boil Pour over cereal, nuts, and pretzels and toss to coat (I use a large stock pot for this, but whatever works. Helps to have a second person tossing the stock pot while you slowly pour the sauce over the mix ingredients.) Spread coated mix into two large roasting pans or onto cooking sheets Cook for 45 minutes at 250 F, stirring every 15. Try to avoid consuming all of the mix prior to completion of cooking. The second recipe sounds like a lot, but after you're done snacking while cooking, it leaves maybe two gallon size ziplog bags of snack mix. You can substitute larger boxes for a slightly milder mix, and can decrease seasoned salt a bit if you prefer a low sodium variety. Four family size boxes (18oz) is too much to comfortably make at a time.
