Skiers French Toast ------------------- 2 tblsp corn syrup 1/2 cup butter 1 cup packed brown sugar 1 italian/french bread loaf 5 eggs 1-1/2 cup milk 1 tsp vanilla 1/4 tsp salt Slice bread into several thick slices (about 1-1/2 inches thick) and set aside Combine the corn syrup, butter, and brown sugar in a small saucerpan and simmer until syrupy. Pour this mixture into a 13x9 pan, and spread evenly over bottom of pan. Place bread slices into pan, cut side into syrup - push down into the syrup. In a bowl, beat the eggs, milk, vanilla, and salt, and pour over the bread. Cover the disk and let it stand overnight in refrigerator - or at least a few hours. Preheat oven to 350. Uncover the pan and bake 45 minutes. Serve while hot or warm, or it will harden in the pan. It can be reheated.
